Is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement of family life in the Four Corners Region.

Statement of Purpose:

Grand County is a beautiful part of the United States located in the Four Corners Region of southeastern Utah. When we sing of America the Beautiful, surely we sing about this location. Although there is an abundance of scenic treasures, for many there is financial hardship due to seasonal work of a tourist-based economy and lack of year round employment.

Butterflies, Trees & Dreams will perform several distinct community functions. These include:

Collecting and donating refurbished used automobiles in good condition. Employed local families in need of transportation to maintain a job will be eligible to receive a vehicle. Getting to work is difficult or impossible for many who can not afford to purchase or repair a vehicle. Since most of the Four Corners Region has no public transit system, transportation to work is unavailable to many individuals. When you donate a vehicle, it will either be sold to raise funds or donated directly to a needy family. The family must provide their own insurance.

Providing free trees of generous size to homeowners who can not afford or need help to purchase them. Trees provide the necessary shade and canopy for energy conservation. Trees are also a vital part of the historic and environmental beauty of our community. This gives an increased sense of pride of ownership.

Historic and environmental preservation. Trees provide habitats for the many native butterfly, bird and beneficial animal species in the Four Corners Region. When the original settlers arrived in Moab, they were dazzled by the grassy, lush greenery which sets Moab apart from other high desert cities. This area is an oasis and needs to be preserved as such for future generations.

Supporting other worthy local causes. Examples of other worthy causes would be: "Have a Dream"--fulfilling a dream for a terminally-ill child, helping a needy senior repair his or her home, or donating plant material to memorial gardens. One of our funds is The Baby Maryah Fund.

The Baby Maryah Fund was formed in July 2005, after the sudden passing of beautiful little 5-week-old Maryah Pettingill in Moab Utah. Maryah’s family needed help with the funeral expenses and Butterflies, Trees & Dreams paid $800.00 towards these expenses.

Butterflies, Trees & Dreams, a not-for-profit organization located in Moab, Utah, received federal nonprofit status in 2005. The expected outcome of the endeavors of this not-for-profit organization is to:

Help local citizens to maintain employment by giving them transportation.
Improve the environment by encouraging and planting trees.
Create positive changes in the lives of local families by giving to those in need.
Encourage beautification efforts in order to raise the quality of life for all citizens.
